With two new issue briefs, presentations, blogging and social-media coverage, SIANI and its partner Focali will have a strong presence at the 10-14 February event in New Delhi, which will bring together more than 1,000 researchers, policy-makers, donors and members of civil society.

WCA Poster presentation: Human security or resilience? The role of trees for climate change adaptation in the Burkina Faso parklands

The Focali researchers Jenny Friman and Per Knutsson will present a poster at the World Congress of Agroforestry in India 10-14th of February. The poster is based on research findings, from their ongoing research about the role of trees for climate change adaptation in the Burkina Faso parklands.

Sharing the Land: Restoring Degraded Ecosystems and Improving Livelihoods Through Agroforestry

This brief examines how agroforestry approaches – growing trees with crops, and sometimes with animals – can advance land restoration and conservation while also strengthening livelihoods. The brief has been produced through a collaboration between Focali and SIANI around the theme “Forests, Landscapes and Food Security”.

Trees in Home Gardens: Making the Most of an Age-Old Practice to Improve Food Security and Nutrition

This brief explores the value of an agroforestry approach to home gardens, incorporating multiple layers of trees, shrubs and crops, in the context of nutrition and food security. The brief has been produced through a collaboration between Focali and SIANI around the theme “Forests, Landscapes and Food Security”.

Vote for Eskil Mattsson in the World Agroforestry Congress Blog competition

The Focali researcher Eskil Mattsson will travel to Delhi in February to attend the World Congress on Agroforestry, WCA. At the congress he will present his research from Sri Lanka about the agroforestry system "Homegardens". Focali researcher Matilda Palm awarded research grants from Formas and Sida

For Palm this implies research funding for four years, whereof one year will be spent at Columbia University with Professor Ruth DeFries and four month at ICRAF (World Agroforestry Centre). The research project builds on Matilda Palm’s previous research on agroforestry and restoration of degraded land.
