PhD candidate, Division of Physical Resource Theory, Department of Energy and Environment, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg.

Focus area:

My research explores the drivers of tropical deforestation and land use change. My initial research is part of a project on ”Greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss from land use change embodied in international trade of agricultural commodities – a pan-tropical assessment”, which aims at finding spatially explicit ways to improve estimates of how much different commodities (e.g. soy, palm oil, beef and cocoa) drive tropical deforestation, and also to further examine the impact this land use change has on biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions.

Background:

BSc in Earth Science at the University of Gothenburg (2010), MSc in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Management at King’s College London (2011). From 2012 to 2015, I worked as the Geographic Data Coordinator at the Swedish Maritime Administration. Since August 2015, I am a PhD candidate at the Department of Energy and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology.

Keywords:

Tropical deforestation, land use change, GIS and spatial data.
