Researcher and Associate Professor Madelene Ostwald

Madelene Ostwald is associate professor of geography with specialisation in physical geography.

Works at:

Gothenburg Centre for Sustainable Development, GMV with office at Physical Resource Theory, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg. 

Focus area: 

My research interest is related to land use, forests, climate change policies, multi-functional landscapes, resource management and monitoring, REDD+ and other land-related issues.

Background: 

PhD (2000) and Associate Professor (2007) in Geography especially Physical Geography from the Dept. of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg. Post Doc at Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA (2002-2004) and the Dept. of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg (2004-2007). Assistant Professor (2007-2009) and lecturer (2009-2019) at Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR)/ Tema M at Linköping University.

Madelene Ostwald was the research leader for Focali thematic studies and joint research projects from the launch of Focali 2009 to 2012 and was one of the founders of the network.
